Privacy Policy

Short version: the numbers you type into the calculator never leave your browser. The only personal information we ever store is an email address, and only if you deliberately give us one. We don't sell data, we don't share it with lenders, and we never ask for your name, address, or Social Security number.
Who we are
KeepOrRefi is an independent educational tool operated by Rustin, who also makes Gross Profit Calculator. We are not a lender, a mortgage broker, or a financial advisor. We receive no compensation from any lender, and our revenue does not change based on whether you refinance. That's the whole reason we can tell you to keep your mortgage.

What we collect

We do not ask for and do not want: your name, postal address, phone number, Social Security number, date of birth, lender name, or account numbers. We never pull your credit. Nothing on this site triggers a credit inquiry of any kind, soft or hard.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-ZSPKRSFS73). GA4 sets cookies to distinguish repeat visits and measure how pages are used. We have no advertising tags, no remarketing pixels, no social-media trackers, and no third-party advertising cookies.
You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser, using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or enabling any standard tracker blocker. The calculator works fully with analytics blocked — it doesn't depend on them.
The email list
Subscribing is double opt-in: you enter an address, we email you a confirmation link, and nothing is sent until you click it. If you don't confirm, we send nothing further and the pending record expires.
- Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
- We never sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your address to lenders, brokers, lead buyers, data brokers, or advertisers. This is not a lead-generation site and there is no version of it where it becomes one without your explicit consent.
- You can ask us to delete your record entirely at any time — email [email protected] and we'll remove it.
Subscriber records are stored on our own hosting, outside the publicly served part of the site. When we move to a dedicated email provider for sending, we'll name it here before any addresses are transferred.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of service providers, and only these:
- Google — Tag Manager and Analytics 4, for usage measurement.
- Our hosting provider — serves the site and stores subscriber records and server logs.
- Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery, which necessarily processes request metadata.
Beyond those, we disclose information only if legally compelled to. We do not sell personal information as that term is used in the California Consumer Privacy Act or comparable state laws, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Since the only personal information we hold is an email address and its consent record, exercising those rights is simple: email [email protected] and tell us what you'd like done. We'll act on it and won't discriminate against you for asking.
How long we keep things
- Calculator inputs: not kept at all.
- Subscriber records: until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Unconfirmed pending signups expire after seven days.
- Analytics data: per Google Analytics 4 retention settings.
- Server logs: per our hosting provider's standard retention.
Children
This site is intended for adult homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Subscriber records are stored outside the web root and are not publicly accessible. Because we hold no financial account data, no identity documents and no credit information, the consequences of any incident are limited by design — that's deliberate, not incidental.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above. Material changes affecting subscribers — a new email provider, or any new category of data collected — will be announced in the weekly email before they take effect.
A note on what this isn't
Nothing on KeepOrRefi is a loan offer, a rate quote, or individualized financial advice. Rates shown are national survey averages published by Freddie Mac and Optimal Blue. Your actual offer will differ. Talk to a licensed loan officer before making a decision.
